Seventeen. [05 Jan 2009|08:59am]
I heard the most unfortunate story today but I feel it is a necessity to share it with you all so you might save yourself from the same perils that this individual faced. You see, I hear that this woman killed her husband because he out did her in a game of bridge. I feel there is a lesson to be learned from this. You should be careful when picking your gaming partners but even more careful to observe if they have something with which they can kill you. In this particular instance it was a knife but wands can be dangerous too.

Filtiarn agrees or I think he does. He seems to have his mind set on us heading out on a morning walk. I hope you all had a lovely and peril free New Year's Eve.

Filtiarn has decided he rather likes my bed. He is not quite to full size but I believe he has already grown a bit since yesterday. He is the best Christmas present that I have ever received. I was very indecisive about the name but it came to me in my sleep. It means Lord of the Wolves and I think it's a very fitting name.

Thank you everyone else for the lovely gifts. I don't believe I've ever had such a bountiful haul.

I might have forgotten that I was doing a test in the wash and started a load of whites and turned everything magenta while running through placements for Oliver! in my head.

Magenta is a very lovely colour though. I think it'll go nicely with everything. Someone who has a magenta aura is usually described as being artistic and creative so this must be a good luck sign.

I got new boots for the Christmas Eve events. Rubber and bright yellow. I think they're actually rain boots but I like them. I don't think it matters much as long as they keep my feet dry and warm.

I know everyone is concerned about the mistletoe but I think the real concern should be the nargles. I predict they're aiming for a full fledged invasion. They're mostly harmless but I would safe guard anything that you don't want to go missing. They once stole every sock in my drawer. Nothing is worse than having cold feet.

They're quite intelligent. They must have come up with this idea themselves.

Alas, I have a fluxweed shake and I think I am going to work on everyone's Christmas presents. No, you're not all getting bumblebee soap this year though that would be easy.

Thirteen is the luckiest number. [03 Dec 2008|10:52pm]
Anyone who thinks they are too small to make a difference has never been in bed with a mosquito.

Speaking of which, did you know that it was the female of the species that goes for your blood not the male? Most mosquitoes actually prefer nectar but the female mosquito's need the extra protein and iron to produce larvae! Some species don't ever drink blood. I might have finished the book on bumble bees and got fulled into the life cycle of the average mosquito - you will all have to forgive me.

I guess the point is that for everyone having a not-so-hot, sad day you should know that you matter to someone. Without you there might not be mosquitoes. You play the part in the reproduction cycle of another life. That has to count for something.

Nine - Yes, Germany had it right. This is a big 'No!!!' [04 Nov 2008|03:28pm]
I was having lunch and I spotted this Adonis. I have not been able to get him out of my head since I saw him but I am not sure if he saw me. He was not as I remembered him. He was charming and gentle with his dog which was the cutest dog that I've ever seen. He is so lovely.

He has kind eyes and soft hands. I'd like to touch his hands.

When I think of him my heart takes flight.

I've never asked anyone out before. What am I supposed to do?

Eight Eight Halloween Mates. [31 Oct 2008|07:46pm]
Rolf thinks I look silly. He says that there aren't blond Indian Chiefs so I made my hair darker and now he won't stop laughing. I found some really amazing muggle pictures of how I'm supposed to look and I even have a really snazzy headdress and war paint. I personally think the headdress reminds me of another one I saw once upon a time.

I think Halloween is lots of fun. I hope someone is handing out icemice.

Seven - Seven welcome to heaven [25 Oct 2008|03:59pm]
Rolf slipped and fell today. He didn’t break anything but I think he might have pulled a muscle.

I’ve put him to bed and given him some pain potions but he wanted soup like his mum makes. I am curious to why it is that soup makes everything better?

I don’t know if it was like his mums but he didn’t seem to mind the soup I made much. I always thought it was chocolate and apples that helped you feel better.

I guess you learn something new every day.

Six - Six pick up sticks. [19 Oct 2008|09:26pm]
I really rather think that on a night such as this it would be lovely to have wings. In a round about way, I already have wings. Isn’t it strange and beautiful the way we are programmed to have our imaginations take flight?

In our dreams our bodies are lighter than they should be, our heads heavier, as though we've stared up at the sky for too long and can no longer tell whether our feet touch the ground or there's even any ground to touch, as if the sky just goes on and on without end. We can be the stars, the clouds and the birds flying amongst them.

I am very much alive though you may or may not believe as much. I suppose I could be lying about this fact. I could not even be myself. I’m still of the thought that I am indeed still me. Me says that I am very tired and Me may go to adventure in my dreams.

High - Five. [06 Oct 2008|10:43pm]
I had the best time seeing all the animals while I was away but I am quite happy to be home once again or be on the way home. We took a portkey for part of the way and now we’re taking the train the rest of the way. It makes me feel a bit like I’m going back to Hogwarts again. The only real difference is the company; Rolf snores far louder than my previous compartment mates.

We’re expected to make it back in Dorset by six in the morning.

four score and new post ago [02 Oct 2008|01:58pm]
We’re safe at Mt. Kilimanjaro. So far I am happy to report no sightings of Querloobarras. It is so much fun camping out! Away from the city, you can actually see all the stars. I do wish I’d packed more icemice. The supplies are running low. We’ve got a few more days before we return home. We’ve seen all sorts of amazing animals.

I can’t wait to get home and tell you all about them.

Will someone go and check in on my father?

tri-pod of doom [20 Sep 2008|08:09pm]
Rolf and I were very fortunate to not get these bug but it appears people are returning back to normal which makes us very happy. I was quite worried about everyone who was ill. I should advise that our preparations for our next expedition are nearly in order. We're leaving next weekend for Mt. Kilimanjaro. All we need to do is finalize the proper portkeys and everything will be in order. We're going on a safari because he feels as if I should be more comfortable with the common Muggle animals in the region. We're going to take the Umbwe route and camp out.

Father says we must watch out for the Querloobarras. I told Rolf we needed to pack extra socks and peanut butter. If you sleep with a peanut butter Q on your foot, they know you're their friend. It's much easier to keep them at bay this way than having to amuse them the other way. I don't think I should even try to get into that - far too dreadful to think about.

On another note, I think I've misplaced my lucky leprechaun's foot. I don't recall the last place I saw it but if you find it can you please send it my way. It's attached to a bracelet.

The second isn't so bad. [06 Sep 2008|07:46pm]
To gild refined gold, to paint the lily,
To throw a perfume on the violet,
To smooth the ice, or add another hue
Unto the rainbow, or with taper-light
To seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish,
Is wasteful and ridiculous excess.

I know precisely what Shakespeare was saying. I was trying to get a garden started today when there was this light rain shower. Once the clouds parted, there was this beautiful rainbow and I was completely taken by it.

I wish you could have seen it too.

A picture does not do it justice but here is one. I spell-o-taped it in. I hope you can see it.

spellotaped in )

Sometimes I wonder if there is a bigger meaning to it all but once you see a large beautiful rainbow up close, you have to believe that there is something more -- some grander scheme that your mind cannot quite put into words – it’s either that or the Leprechauns are at it again.

I made Rolf help me look for the pot of gold but we could never find the end. Maybe the real treasure was in Mother Nature sharing the display of colors and not a pot of gold. I think I like Mother Nature better anyways.

I'll leave on a joke that I heard! It's a real riot.

The First is just as good as the any other. [01 Sep 2008|08:53pm]
I can hear the rain. It’s puttering and pattering against the window panes. I think it sounds like Gershwin or maybe it’s a John Phillip Sousa march. I can’t be certain which one. It seems unfair to label it. Maybe it’s just a lullaby. It’s lovely though! I do believe it could lure me into an early sleep if I allowed it to. It has been a most eventful day and I am rather tired. My mind is quite active though and I do not think I’ll be retiring to sleep just yet. That is why I’m writing where all of you can read.

Rolf and I ventured to St. Ottery Catchpole this afternoon to collect some plimpie. We collected some berries on our last trip that I wanted to try to cook with them. We had a nice afternoon with dad. He could do with more company. I think I may find him a pet on our next trip. I am not sure what he’d prefer though.

I wish I’d had a chance to get over to visit the Burrow. We had some shopping to do and it felt a little late to go calling without notice. These past few hours have been relaxing. I read 234 pages of French Overpopulation by Francis Crowded. It is a little on the dry side but it has its moments. I rather like the guillotine jokes. I think a good laugh is important. It helps. I'm currently waiting on the plimpie. You can smell it from here. It smells lovely and seasonal! I think I should go check on it. I wouldn't want to let it burn. We'll be here for a few weeks and then it's off again on another adventure. Do keep in touch and wear a rain jacket if you want to play in the rain. Goulashes are optional!
